The problem with that idea is not all people there are like that. There are lots of normal people there.. Its the extremist which are the problem..

Now put that same guy in a situation where he can oppress others with weapons.. The Christians would do the same things if they were in q country like Afghanistan when they were free to impose their will on others..
Look what the Jews do to the Palestinians and vice versa.. There is no holier than thou when it comes to religion.
It's all about keeping them controlled. If they are free to run amok they will always go to the extremes. The only thing that keeps them in line is rule of law..

Try being nice to the kind of person who believes god knows best, told to him via some religious quack. Assuming they will be nice if only you give them enough love hasn't worked so far. Draconian measures work best, a dead freedom fighter is no problem.
