But the border is 2000 miles long.
If you were to build such a thing, sucessfully, and make it rat proof (tunnel), you would have a new fight on your hands on water and coastal areas.
It's a no win situation.
You can only manage it to some extent.
The 2 lager factors you need to deal with is why are they leaving where they are and why is it attractive to come here.
Attack it at those 2 sources.
This is as bad as the war on drugs. Can't win playing it this way.
You just spend lots of money where that in itself becomes a corruptible problem.

This has been one of my arguments against the wall all along. The wall will only be as effective as our defense of it. We currently have more 1,400 open requests for more border patrol agents. Those requests have been there for years because we can't find enough people to fill them. Miles and miles and miles of unprotected border wall will end up with people going over it, under it, or through it.
We would be better off spending the money doing other things that make coming here less attractive for illegals while helping to make the places they are coming from better places to live.
