A lot of 'FALL GUYS' in this story but they all lead back to VP Cheney.
On February 11, 2003, one month before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Mueller gave testimony to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Mueller informed the American public that "[s]even countries designated as state sponsors of terrorism—Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Cuba, and North Korea—remain active in the United States and continue to support terrorist groups that have targeted Americans.
That intel was based from and provided by Tennant, CIA director.
The AG should have appointed a Independent council then, but it is well known how hard it is to proceed with that when so many national security secrets may be exposed.
They just pinned it on a intel failure but that failure was generated by Cheney & Rumsfeld.
And the fact that the new Obama admin had it's hands full putting out the BANKING FIRE.
It just was not on the top of the electorate's mind or I think may have ended differently.
They would have been dredging in sticky water and would have wasted all of any political clout they had on this one issue.
