Years ago, while working for a porn company, one of my employees wanted to become a US citizen and I helped him. Every day we went to lunch and we went over the questions. We did this for months. Eventually he became a US citizen, and he invited me to his swearing in. He explained to me he had no one else to invite, so I went. It was amazing - hearing people tell stories about how they came to the United States with nothing but the clothes on their back and ten years later they are college graduates, married, have kids, own a house, and own their own business.
Wouldn't you want an Immigrant to be interested in politics, and involved in their community? Or does the hate run too deep in you?

there is lots of immigrants in vancouver, and i have always found them to be the most patriotic/civic minded as they try to assimilate and fit in..
i went to one of those swearing in ceremonies as well, it is a really cool experience
