Im my experience there has always been a stupid amount of paperwork required between countries. Just last week i tried to import some appliances for my home from the UK. Because they don't have a US electrical certification they make you jump through hoops to get the shipments past customs. It's not as if i'm bringing in hundreds of them, it just one of each item.

Its a great pity as Europe has some amazingly advanced appliances that really put the US stuff to shame, yet because of all this red tape Americans will probably never get to see it ( i don't blame Chump for the red tape just the tariffs )
