that's the scary downside to altcoins especially forks of Bitcoin, like Bitcoin Gold (as per the article), Bitcoin Cash (the altcoin run by scammers, BCH), Bitcoin Diamond, and more.
Bitcoin BTC is the only "bitcoin" you should be dealing with.
