Ok so here's what's going on.
Cap' posts alot on GFY like I do. Sometimes I type really fast, have several windows open, and I click around alot. One thing I noticed is that I seemed to click through to the Hilltop ads website ALOT, and by accident.
But this didn't make sense. I know what I click on... why do I keep ending up on that page?
So today I did a little digging and found the reason. Checkout this screenshot carefully:
If you place your mouse pointer near my ad and then look at the bottom of the Google Chrome browser, nothing appears. You only see the URL when you hover over the banner.
But now check the bottom screenshot. My mouse is far away from his banner and yet, the destination URL is appearing in the bottom of Google Chrome. So what gives?
I thought I would look at the source code of this page but when I right-clicked near his ad, "View Source" did not appear. When I right-clicked near my ad, "View Source" appeared.
Intradesting!
Anyway, doing a view-source from another part of this page shows that you have a DIV surrounding your image that somehow makes the banner clickspace larger than the banner itself.
Evil!
While I'm sure its generating a few more clicks to your site, I'd suggest that those clicks are unwanted or at least blind.
