Matter of opinion, I hear where you are coming from. I come from the mentality that nothing is off topic comedy wise, if done correctly. Being obscene for the sake of being obscene (as it seems was the case with Gunn) is lazy rather gauche if you ask me. But I don't think it should be something that is tied to a person for the rest of their days, if you go back and look at his body of work, Gunn wrote Tromeo and Juliet, which is dark and wild. It seems this was his type of humor. Times changed and so did he it seems. He addressed the tweets before Disney hired him and if people accepted his apology then, I don't see what ground they have to stand on now.
I'm probably wrong here, but it's how I feel.
