But that's not what happened here. A trade war isn't a war in a traditional sense. Ca did NOT have to strike back with tariffs. This is not a zero sum game like war when an invader occupies space and a retaliation is required to regain that space.
Trudeau did not have to react with tariffs. He very well could have been more determined to NOT engage in war and instead force a new agreement with US. He did not because of but but but trump. G7, same thing. ca news reported trump caved on the 1 issue remaining in a deal- the sunset clause. he jetted off and trudeau then went on live TV and berated trump, trump then did not sign the G7 exit statement.

I'm not stunned, but my gosh ca, there's plenty of room here to criticize your own leader too. the guy is not looking out for you in many many ways in spite of his bluster declaring otherwise.
