I said Republicans were not always so dumb. The groundwork for Trump's win was laid in place by Karl Rove from the Bush Admin. He was actually very smart and dangerous. He set forth the plan for Republicans to push state elections very hard with the agenda to gerrymander districts in an organized manor across the entire country that would give Republicans a massive advantage.
This wasn't done over night nor was it done by Trump. This was something that took many years to come to pass and Trump was simply the guy in place to take advantage of it.
Between Bush jr & Trump was the tea party. The tea party was a radicalized movement with-in the Republican party that took advantage of the fringe groups and was funded largely by the Koch Brothers, Robert Mercer and Rudolph Murdoch. The problem is the Tea Party became so radicalized they even became the enemy of Republicans themselves.
If you look at every single extreme problem from the Republican party the root of that problem comes from the tea party. The birther nonsense, the pizzagate shit, the Benghazi shit all started with the Tea Party now known as the "freedom cockus"..
What happened was the fringe has been fed a steady diet of propaganda from far right media and Fox news.. This fringe became radicalized to the point normal Republicans became scared to go against them because if they did, the tea party would target them in elections and try to replace them with tea party candidates.
Due to "normal" Republicans cowering away and running from office all together because they are now scared to lose it's allowed the tea party crazies to take control of the Republican party which is how Trump came into power. They don't have complete control, but they have enough power with-in the Republican party to force Republicans to bend the knee to their crazy demands.
It's a case of the lunatics running the asylum. Where Russia fits in with all this, is they pandered to the far right extremist with non sense propaganda. Russia simply amplified what Fox News and other far right talking heads were pushing but Russia weaponized it to attack our election process.
In any normal environment this wouldn't of had the effect that it had, but combined with the gerrymandering, years of far right propaganda turning brains to mush and Democrats pushing a unpopular candidate it allowed the perfect storm for someone like Trump to take advantage. It's not like Trump was part of some master plan, he's a fucking idiot and I'm pretty certain he even expected to be tossed aside early on, but no one even himself expected all this to come out like it did. Once it all did, it fed Trump's massive ego which pushd him on his path of destruction like some wannabe dictator..
