I think it's not being honest to say this isn't unusual. There has never been a US candidate with so many ties to Russia. Added to this some of his staff picks seemed to have been picked specifically due to their access to Russians.

Now look man, I can get the argument of saying.. hey he's picking guys that can perhaps makes deals with other countries.. However it's only Russians that his guys are generally well connected to. It's not like these guys were in good with the Brits, French, Canadians or any long list of traditional allies.. it's all Russians...

When you combine that with attacks on our election process that Trump has mostly ignored because it favored him, Trump's refusal to impose sanctions Congress passed, and all Trump's butt kissing to Putin it's not a far reach to say this in not "usual"..

In fact it's a very long reach to say it's normal..
