I believe the truth is the weather has been "pretty much the same" for the past few hundred years and we've grown used to it. Our entire society is based on what we expect from the weather. However, now this weather is changing and "1000 year storms" are common. We are on the tail end of an ice age, so yes, the weather is changing.
