Many of the ones that don't have 401(k)s have pensions and pensions are heavily in the market.
The market also heavily impacts housing prices, which have been skyrocketing, which impacts both homeowners and renters.
To think the average American is not impacted by the stock market is ludicrous. The stock market is everywhere, touching everything from housing to the price of milk to the price of gas to the price of loans.
