I think reasonable people can disagree on what is obvious, but I do understand your points and they are valid concerns.
I think the "Trump Ego" narrative is a concerted effort with an agenda, but that's just what I believe and I am aware of the possibility of confirmation bias on my own end.
That narrative/agenda would have us believe that the South Koreans don't believe Trump was beneficial to the peace process and they only say that to stroke the Trump ego. Liars and frauds to curry Trump favor to get - what? What they already accomplished? Oh yes - it's to make sure he doesn't stampede the peace, because - why?
French President Emmanuel Macron stroked Trump's ego to get him to stay in the Iran deal. How well do you think that is going to work? If it's all about ego, it should work wonderfully.
