Oh, I didn't read that article. It was Su-22 - an old outdated aircraft designed in 1966 (Russia does not use these dinosaurs since A.D.) with some Arab pilot inside:

Actually I thought since when Syrians have the UFO's aka SU-35...
On a side note, I was watching some video on Discovery channel from 90's. The American pilot has tried Russian air jets and he said something like: "the US planes are like a scalpel, while Russian ones like a sledgehammer which can take off and land from/on anywhere, they can withstand extremely high G and the US pilots will lost their job if they will try do all these low attitude manures mandatory for Russians".
To be honest, personally I would choice a sledgehammer over a scalpel in a real fight. What's about you?
