Putin sent his little mercs to attack a position with a small us special force there. The US soldiers destroyed your mercs.. Your mercs are all former Russian military who turned in their IDs and a hand full of US troops destroyed them.. Putin was so embarrassed he pretends it didn't happen.
The Russian families of those men will never see their bodies to bury them because Russians in Syria are throw away soldiers to Putin.

You think Poootin does not have intel data which show what kind equipment USA have over there. Or generals don't know what will be happened if infantry to attack a military base with air support. They send they die especially.
