Boris Johnson was today accused of failing to tackle teenage knife attacks as figures revealed violent crime at its highest level in four years.
Alarming statistics from the Metropolitan Police Service revealed it reached a peak of 17,768 incidents in March.
That is the highest number since Mr Johnson overhauled neighbourhood policing in 2011, and is up 27 per cent on the same period last year.
