Once again, to summarize:
1. google quality raters don't have a difficult job - trained chimps could do it
2. this update has nothing to do with change of "google philosophy"
I wrote it nearly a month ago and I'm repeating it again, this all smells like some kind of backlink recalculation update gone wrong.
