also 'conversion rates' is kind of a baseless term these days anyway. some sites convert with your traffic, some don't. In general the people who focus and filter their traffic the best convert extremely well compared to someone who doesn't. If your overhead costs and time is substantially less than what you are making over an extended period of time? you are heading in the right direction. If not? you need to retool your strategy.

The BEST question to ask! Are you making money (profit)?
Comparing how much profit/conversion rates compared with ten years ago is a pointless exercise. Most paysite owners today haven't been in business 10 years (it's 9 for me).
All I know is I make more PROFIT every year I am in business so that's all I really care about.
