These days? They get to stay on mommy and daddy's insurance until they are 26 years old.
And the media refers to 18 and 19 year olds as "kids".

I left home at 18 and made my way to the big bad city of Manhattan without a penny to my name. It was shame to have to go back home like a little bitch so I stuck it out and made something of myself by 21 (journalism).
