My brother uses about 75 gallons of gas a week driving to and from work. It can vary depending on which job site he goes to, but he drives a truck that is needed for work. Luckily for him, the company he works for pays for the truck and gas for it. If they didn't he would be looking at about $900-$1000 a year in additional costs just to get to and from work. He makes good money so that amount won't really bother him, but if he were making $25K a year or something like that, it damn sure would. And like you say, someone in that position has to drive and get to work so they will cut that money out of something else.
