Opera was the most popular browser in Russia for 10 years (or more). Now Chrome and Firefox try to replace it (IE is not considered because it's a piece of shit) but still it's the most favorite one.
Putin is a complete idiot. He has never knew what Streisand effect is. Everything he is trying to block gets extremely popular in here. This is in our nature. We just love everything forbidden even from the Soviet times. Star Wars and Rambo III were forbidden in the USSR. Guess who haven't seen them? Nobody! The General Secretary of the Soviet Union was officially a cult person. Guess how many kids haven't joking on him? The pornography was forbidden in the Soviet Union. You officially have to get a prison time only for having it (not even for production and distribution). How old I was when I saw porn for the first time? Try to guess...

This is Russia, babe and the laws here do not work as they used to work in other countries. Everything which is forbidden is popular there. For example, we were listening "the Voice of America" on the radio during the communist times. Why? Because it was forbidden! We were watching American blockbusters and German pornography. Why? Because it was forbidden. Now all these things are totally allowed (navalny.com was "blocked" while pornhub.com was unblocked) - they are mainstream, so.... nobody's watching them. The people here will say "fuck off" to your pornhub - mainstream so boring and they will intsall a VPN service to visit navalny.co. This is how Russian mentality works...
