And by the way, there's a few modules for python to work with video processing (some of them are quite powerful), but they wrappers for ffmpeg. Given the simplicity of this task (as we don't require to identify and manipulate different streams), it would be easier and more transparent (i.e. improvement or re-usage of code in the future) to use system calls directly to ffmpeg.
