yup, I was 18 which is under 21 and they make you stay x amount of hours to sober up before you can get bailed out.
The drunk in public was me walking home from a bar at 5 am with a case of cold beer. I made the mistake of saying I was walking home from a bar and they wanted to know which bar and I wouldn't say the name. I was drinking at the bar after hours as last call was at 2 am. It was the middle of summer yet my bottles of beer were ice cold at 5 am.
both of them were just fines after the overnight stay.

Public intoxication charges, often called being "drunk and disorderly," is a legal charge alleging that a person is visibly drunk or under the influence of drugs in public. It is usually a misdemeanor crime under state and local law.
Public intoxication laws exist to prevent people from disturbing others in public and to remove people who appear to be unable to stop themselves from hurting themselves or others.
