The EU budget is 157.9 billion Euros. When the UK leaves and after they pay the penalty of £35 billions that bill falls on the shoulders of a few countries who are net contributors. So mostly Germans.

Has that spending led to less spending on local politics? No, every country has introduced departments to regulate EU directives. It's led to bigger government spending.
