Honestly, I think its either that, or he dentures just slipped. If you watch his mouth just as he backs away from the podium you can see his mouth change shape as if he's using his tongue to move something around in there.
No one would care if he just said he dentures moved, but I guess that is less embarrassing than claiming dry mouth.
