It has some kind of sweet smell, which I don't like. You don't feel it because you have grown on it. In Soviet Union it was almost impossible to find a turkey meat and we ate mostly chicken and sometimes duck (to be honest, I don't like it either). Now you can buy anything you want, but once you're used to eat chicken, you will continue eat chicken. The only other type of bird meat I can eat is quail. For example, I prefer quail eggs over chicken eggs. The quail eggs much smaller, but they taste better to me and I like to eat them raw, also I use them for omelette and to make pickled eggs.
As I already said above. My cat is another case. He eats turkey only, and only the breast part of it. A cat of my son loves pasta and... tofu. So this is all about the food you have grown with.
P.S. As about charity, so course it's cool that you guys do it.
