It was to divide Germany in such a way that allowed them to generate enough income to pay WW2 reparations, but prevented them from rising back to power.

The US-Mexican border wall is not even relatable. It is one nation attempting to spread into another nation. It is not mexicans trying to become Americans. They are trying to establish points of domination in the US, funded by Americans.
