On other adult boards you can have a normal political discussions from all sides, here it's pure hate, personal attacks and trolling if you're not alt-right.

I agree with your post well said
Firstly,

I'm very much in the middle these days, but liberal at heart. Voted Obama both terms, but started to regret it in the second term. I misjudged him, and this is coming from a guy who had a family member saved by obamacare.

I work very hard to keep an open mind, live an examined life, and execute good common sense.

Sadly, common sense seemingly isn't that common anymore

I have to say.. I've never felt as personally threatened as I have lately by some of the lefts actions and agenda. It appears way too much like indoctrination to me, with bigger picture players behind the scenes pulling the strings and "setting trends" on how one should act and react. When you start to look at the overwhelming power and pull of the MSM, the rabbit hole gets even darker. Let both sides agree this past year has seen propaganda at its pinnacle here in the states.

Follow that up with censorship (on any level) and attacks on free speech, quelling any opposing views or debate, it starts to make me nervous about future generations born into these mixed messages and dismissal of common sense.

Any liberal worth their weight should never concede freedom of speech regardless of circumstances. People must learn to thicken their skin and allow for debate regardless if feelings get hurt. It's just not practical, and I think practicality is directly related to progress.

I could not disagree with the advent of "micro aggressions" and "triggering" more. This is the definition of political correctness gone mad.. And again from a practical standpoint, if I have to walk down a street that has 100 people on it - then stop to bow a certain way at each of them - that small walk is going to take all damn day just to make and from a practical perspective only, I'm not going to get anything done.

These are concessions I'm willing to make as a middle type of guy with left leanings. It's utter insanity to anyone who is two things 1.) a mature adult 2.)has common sense.

America was the greatest for a reason.. All the imports moved here and made sacrifices for the greater good of the country and its people. This isn't what I see around the world today.

People move here from their shithole (understandable) just to turn bits and pieces of our towns and country to the.. Same shithole? I don't get that.

A few years ago liberals and conservatives alike agreed that the culture of a lot (not all) of the Muslim countries was abhorrent. Today's liberals totally dismiss these cultural gaps and lack of assimilation.

I guess I'm an old out of touch liberal in this regard. Though I'm still pro gays, lesbians, etc. But at this point I'm tired of hearing about it, the war is over (we won) now move along and do your thing already. The exposure is disproportionate.

I live in the Deep South (which is predominately black all over btw) and day to day racism just doesn't exist. Black and white go along and handle their business doing precisely what they want to do. Again, the exposure is disproportionate from the good old divide and conquer MSM which is pitting American against American, whilst perpetually pumping fear down our throats so we don't get a clue about what is really going on with the bigger picture.

That bigger picture is corporatocracy running rampant long before and long after stupid Donald Trump.

We are all being gamed, we are all in this together as Americans. Perhaps sometimes stopping the rot, cleaning house, and going back to basics (the things that have worked for us as a country before, the ideals that built this country (from a practical perspective) to begin with.

We are up against lifetime politicians who have long since forgotten what the average Americans plight is.. Who push control based on ego and personal gain.. and the corporations that put money in their pocket to give them a "taste" to begin with.

This nation has long since forgotten how to take care of its people and treat them well on a very simple common sense basis. Plants need sunlight, humans need oxygen, etc. instead we are treated like an inexhaustible commodity to use, squeeze, and profit from as much as possible.. Then toss away when we get sick and our bodies/minds can't handle it anymore.

We have long since forgotten what it's like to be real fully fledged human beings. When I see how well some governments treat their citizens..and the basic considerations they are given it makes me well up. Sad shit.

If we can just come to agreement on a few unshakeable basic understandings, more common sense and practicality will follow.. But right now we are properly fucked up so perhaps there are worse things than isolating ourselves for a moment to work our shit out and clean up our own back yard. The MSM would be a good place to start regaining control, cooperate overreach would be the second.

We are taught shit, watch shit, eat shit, are stressed to fuck, everyone is broke (bye bye middle class), pumped full of fear, sick and unhealthy, with shitty and obscenely over priced medical care = more and more people turning into powerless non threatening bums just focused on survival instead of thriving.

So many people haven't even woken up to these glaringly obvious facts.. AND NOW opposing views of the debate are being systematically censored and wiped out.

As an old liberal, that sounds scary as fuck to me.
