I am trying to put Linux on an HP Pavilion All In One 20 that is a few years old. I suspect it could be a driver problem but I do not know how to even check with Linux for drivers or how to install drivers without an internet connection.
Any ideas?

Yes that can be sometime problem , i had problem with with wifi driver but i managed to get it work once they got it in apt repository. Just google "linux nameofyourlancard driver" and see what you get.
