Old Sun Server Questions -

Hello All -

I have a old sun sparc5 that I'd like to use. The OS drive crashed back in '98 and I just put the server in my garage.

I want to use this machine to practice server installs and whatever else since it would be better to do offline than to fuck up a machine that I really need.

1. The box does not have a floppy or a CD on it. The 2 drive connectors are SCSI, I have 2 scsi drives the crashed OS drive and the data drive that was inside also.
2. When I turn it on, it counts the memory and then says " Timeout waiting for arp/rarp packet "
3. I hit STOP+A and I get the OK prompt.

How can I format the drive and then install freebsd or redhat?

It has 2 ethernet ports in the back, I dont know how to make my home network see it so I can format/install or whatever from my other PCs.

I just want to know if its a hopeless case and just junk it or can it be used (If so instructions would be appreciated)

Peace.
