The USA being "the" military power on this earth may offend you but it does not offend me, assuming that is what you are speaking about and maybe you are not.
An aircraft carrier has its role to play against "asynchronous" warriors. A carrier does not have a singular role as it is a part of a combined force. In addition every carrier also projects "nuclear weapons" as well as conventional.
