I think the .xxx domain will be a monumental mistake and I think it will do unmeasurable damage within days after it is started.
First, moving trademarks into the .xxx domains will be a disaster. The Cybersquatting will be attrocious.
The second and far worse part is that companies and even governments can just easily block all .xxx's from routing. Bang, Comcast now has the option to be bullied into merely blocking all porn, regardless of the situation. Shutting off the entire industry is one mouse click away.
I believe that porn is a fundamental freedom we have, and there is no reason to segregate it from other messages or expressions. Furthermore, any act of forcing this segregation is by definition censorship.
