For me, migration is a numbers and culture issue.
Numbers. The West can't properly support the people it had in 2000. Let along what it has now. Let alone what it will have in 2050.
Culture. This is a far bigger threat. Should we allow people into the West who don't share our values? And please they don't share our values unless you can make a very good case for that.
Under the EU house prices have risen to the level where only the rich can afford them. Decent paying jobs are on the decline. Trade outside the EU is hampered by being inside the EU and yet Third World Nations are able to trade under WTO rules with the cost of labour negating trade tariffs and then some. The average man has become poorer by EU rules and continues to get poorer. It's great if you own a big business, sucks if you're looking for a job.
Above all, it's a politician's wet dream and a nightmare for most. All it would take is a trade agreement between European Nations.
