To proceed, those seeking to impeach require a simple majority in the house. They don't have anything close to it. This is childish grandstanding and nothing more.

If the house changes hands in 2018, it may happen. Then it will be referred to the senate, where it requires a 2/3rds vote (or 67 out of 100). This has happened twice before and each time the senate did not vote to impeach. They wouldn't this time either.

However, pushing impeachment will increase republican turnout. This is why Barack Obama was never impeached, though he easily could have been.

It requires no crime, nor any malfeasance. Just a vote.
