What is your system rated for power wise ? I've been looking at grid-tie from wholesale solar that is rated at 10Kw for $16,200 which should take care of 100% of our electrical needs during the summer, and then I can sell power back during the fall/winter/spring
And with my electric company picking up 20% of the costs and the fed's covering %30, I'm looking at just under $10K of actual out of pocket, and with a yearly use of around $3500 I'll have just under 3 years in payback
