in the last 40 years they where small groups and did not have the help from nobody. you see the same problem in thailand with itīs military regime. they all becomming more aggressive and harder when goverments start to limit the freedom of their citizens.
what other answer you expect than force from them if you try to handel that with force?
in the US-history there are so many examples for that that you guys thought you can stop all that with weapons - where did you resolve ONE problem with that ?
i think guys like you had their time to show us all that it will not work.
