Trump was a privileged silver spoon kid and went to private schools that's all he knows. His kids did the same. He doesn't give a rats ass about public schools because that's below his stature. People like him look down on anyone who didn't come from privileged money.
Betsy Devos was just a concession to the GOP to put her "somewhere" because her family gave the GOP $200 million dollars.. It's the same thing as putting Giuliani as Cyber Czar. He had to pay him back for his support, so he stuck him in an open slot that he really could care less about.

This is a common problem with our nation's leaders. Hillary Clinton said during the campaign that she hasn't driven a car in over twenty years. I honestly believe that people like this are not fit to lead a country - they are too out of touch with how the average American lives.
Trump doesn't seem to be interested in anything else besides being President and playing golf. Education is something that affects 99% of all Americans- Nearly all of us have been through public school and or have kids or grand kids going through public school. This is a huge deal.
It seemed to be the same thing with the healthcare bill. Trump didn't care about it and just wanted to pass a bill to make it look like he has done something. What was in the bill wasn't important at all.
This is not how a President's administration runs. You cannot pick and choose which issues to give serious thought to - ALL of these issues are serious.
