Same with salmon, why does salmon at resto's always taste better than mine? well it's savory and yummy, cooked in butter or whatever they're adding to make it taste so great.

You only need a tiny bit of oil to cook steak and olive oil is a good option. There are even cooks who don't use oil at all, also depends on what kind of steak.
And butter is actually good too. Also much more delicious than margarine. It just has a lower smoking point, so
not always suitable for frying. Butter is no longer considered bad and is much tastier than margarine which is a tasteless shit.
The amount of oil used to make a steak is nothing compared to french fries and other typical fast foods.
BTW - we have a nice restaurant here that will make your stake rare than bring it to you on a special plate with a small heated stone (very hot) so you can actually make every single bit of the meat to your own liking, by frying it on the stone - and with no fat at all. I think they ask like 25€ for that.
