I've paid a lot of money in taxes over the years...but I've never, EVER paid 25%. I couldn't even imagine writing a check to the Feds for 1/4 of everything I made.
Don't get me wrong...with sales tax, property tax, FICA, etc. etc. I pay way more than 50% in different ways to different Federal, State, and local taxes.
But to the IRS? Hell no. You need a new accountant....or stop doing your taxes at H & R Block.  |
I work for a living with No dependents.
And H&R block was one of my customers. But I have never been one of theirs.
I have seen a lot of tax filings over the years. I am quite certain more of them than you.
And if it is the last thing I do in life,
It will be to see that nobody is afforded a deduction not available to everyone on personal taxes.
A flat rate tax with deductions for dependents as well as a personal exemption
so that nobody pays one penny on their first 15k and 4k higher with each dependent.
And the next 10k is taxed at a 50%rate. All of this is enjoyed by everyone.
Everyone enjoys the low end and everyone pay's the same for higher amounts.
Then there is less chance for discrimination and cheating under the code.
Justice starts with the tax code. Anything less is discrimination.
It seems like we are headed back to the times you had to own property to vote. And some folks only counted as 3/5ths of a person when voting and that 3/5ths vote was cast by their owner. And that is US history, not some 3rd world nation.
Much of the tax code is to make some feel content with the way things are.
If you feel like you are getting away with something, you don't make waves.
