Internet and the Justice System

It seems to me there should be a special branch for dealing with court cases involving highly technilogical cases. I'm looking over material right now for a modern law (summer preread) and the case, which went through three appeals, was botched first by an ignorant judge, second by an ignorant defense (the guy, who was innocent, and who's details I won't state because they are an active member, had lost all his money the first time around and couldn't afford shit the second) and finally ended in a sort of a legal "default" with him winning, if you can call it that.

Certain laws are completely inapplicable or aren't understood by most judges.

Thoughts?
