No, I am talking from real world experience.
85% to 95% of Americans have no military training. The are lots of ways to take out a terrorist but you might get killed trying. You may get killed if you do nothing too.
I see a very low awareness of possible threats -- knowing all eyes about you are aware instills confidence and a 'no fear' attitude -- not some macho man delusion.
That's how these mass shootings take so many victims -- no one reacts fast with measured counter violence to stop the shooter -- you can smash a bottle over the shooter's head from behind if you are trained to react rationally. Any man trained in hand-to-hand combat knows how to take a rife or a pistol from a shooter and kill him with that weapon without thinking. You might be killed in the process but if you did nothing you will probably die.
The massacre in that theater in Paris was a good example of this. If a shooter or two goes off in a crowded grocery store what would you do? Depends on what aisle you are in
