This is how we survived during the first Lebanon War and its aftermath when I lived in Israel. Not by acting like panic-attack maniacs. We often had a Galil or an Uzi loaded and within reach. Armed soldiers were traveling on leave on public buses. After a while you get used to all the machine guns -- it's a citizens army over there.
I have been around many bus bombings and terrorist attacks -- Americans don't know jack-shit about this experience. Bunch of scared children.
