From what I have experienced, it appears to be more along the lines of individual contractors for the adult sector.
And more corps. doing things for corps (everyone needs to CYA and have a scapegoat it seems - opinions from living too long in a gov't town

If anyone needs sites designed - I know a HIGHLY skilled artist who was just laid off due to those he was working for (a corp) went under. He has time and talent and won't cost a million.
