I grew up in New Jersey in a very rural area on top of a mountain. When it snowed, the power would go out and would be snowed in for days until the plow came to clear the roads. One year when I was about 13 I had to shovel off the back porch, the walkway, the front porch, and our driveway - which was rather long. I went in for lunch, only to discover I had to do it all over again this afternoon. And the following day would be more of the same. Fuck that. I promised myself as soon as I could I would move some place where it never snowed.
This is why I live in California. We still have seasons, it gets "cold" here, and if I really really really want to see snow it's an hour away. On Christmas morning we made the drive up north, played in the snow - first time in six years - and then drove home to open up presents.
There is no amount of money that can get me to live some place where it snows.
