I think there will be a civil war, just not in the next 10 years. But it will be less US only than an overall disruption of the status quo. It will flow through many countries.

For those of you who have no friends outside a young urbanites, there is so much race and religion based hatred you wouldn't believe it. It has been fomented and written into cultural subtexts so strongly that it cannot disappear. Many of you are irreligious and can't imagine this. Some of you have friends among races other than your own and can't conceive of this. It is deep and abiding and is as real as faith in a diety.

The only way to deal with this would be long-term, equal, frank, respectful dialog, so that won't happen. Each "side" will struggle for an advantage and eventually resort to violence. My personal opinion, admittedly an amateur one, is that it is inevitable without some very unlikely events.
