3-4 letter ones are valuable because they are pretty rare... but there are 36 times more 5 character domains, than 4 letter domains... so doesn't seem likely that random 5 characters will ever become very valuable... plus alternative extensions will probably be more and more accepted in the future too, reducing the value of .coms...
