The US does not deport criminals at nearly the same rate as other nations.
The problem is our sanctuary cities (LA, Chicago, NYC, etc.) that refuse to hold criminal illegal immigrants long enough for the feds to come get them. Trump has threatened to cut federal funding to these sanctuary cities. That would be one way of getting them to cooperate.
