Let's talk about SEO for a minute. It's mostly a myth. Look at the kind of sites that rank in google for porn keywords. Tons of them have absolute shit on-page SEO and absolute shit backlink profiles. They don't rank because some SEO expert did some incomprehensible, sophisticated magic...they rank because they're engaging sites with good content that have good bounce rate and time on site metrics. You gotta have access to programming skill to create a site like that.

As far as marketing expertise? There's definitely guys with no technical skills who are very clever about using social media, blogging, targeted advertising, etc, to drive traffic to products. But they're just affiliates; they obviously don't make anywhere near as much money as the owners of the products they promote. And the people who created those products needed programming skills to do it.
