When IBM became too big and powerful, people turned to Microsoft. When Microsoft became too big and powerful as well, people started turning to Linux. Visa has gotten too powerful (ironically, from taking porn transactions!) so people are going to look for a way around them. They're just screwing themselves. I'm already investigating prepaid solutions myself.
